This week was probably the craziest week of my whole
mission. On Tuesday we had interviews with President Ayre, so we had to buy
lunch for the whole zone. We bought some milanesa sandwiches that were HUGE. I
couldn't eat half of it before I was full! After the interviews Elder Fabila
and I got to go on exchanges with the Assistants. Elder Engebretsen stayed with
Elder Fabila in Zárate, and I went with Elder Wade to San Fernando. President
brought Elder Wade and I to the offices to start out the day, and on the way he
stopped at McDonald's because he hadn't eaten anything... so he bought us some
food as well. We were stuffed... but we ate more anyway... but hey, it's not
every day that I can eat a McFlurry! When we got to the offices Elder Wade just
changed out of his suit and we went to work. It was a lot of fun to be working
with him and I learned a lot. We were talking all day and bouncing ideas off of
eachother and it was incredible how much I learned. Then at about 10:00 pm we
started the drive back to Zárate to end the exchanges. That day the Assistants
got a brand new car... and on the way to Zárate... we ran over a dead animal on
the freeway. It was a really big animal. Elder Wade and I just prayed that it
didn't damage the brand new car. It didn't. Prayers are answered.
This was a great week. We taught 54 lessons with members,
contacted 61 referrals, and brought 9 people to church that are progressing
towards baptism. We are teaching a complete family, the Ramirez family (papá
Julio, mamá Laura, Guadalupe (13) and Avril (9)). They were prepared by the
Lord to receive us. They are accepting EVERYTHING. They also loved church
yesterday. They will be baptized as a family on the 24th. We are also teaching
Mirta and Eli (mother and daughter), Lorena and Celia (mother and daughter),
and Mica (friend of theirs). All of them are progressing at an incredible pace
and they will be baptized on the 24th. Well, Mirta will be baptized on the 17th
because she went to church last week and has been listening to us longer. It's
incredible how the Lord is blessing us here.
| This is the new tiny pension :) Elder Garrett (USA), Elder
Fabila (Uruguay), Elder Sanchez (México), and Elder Lanas (Chile) |
This weekend was probably the craziest 2 days of my whole
life. I'd prefer not to tell you about it. A lot of things happened that pretty
much scared me almost to death. Anyway, we had to make an escape from our
pension at 10:00 pm on Saturday to the pension of the other Elders in Zárate,
and on Sunday we made a quick dash to the pension and took out all of our
personal items in 10 minutes and moved them to our new pension. The pension of
the other Elders is TINY and we are now 4 Elders living there. Oh well. We are
going to be moving soon.
I hope everything is well at home or wherever you may be!
Que la fuerza les acompañe!
Love,
Elder John William Garrett
